Savory Roasted Chickpeas

– 2 cans (15 oz each) low-sodium chickpeas, drained

– 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 1 tablespoon Red Chile Powder

– 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt


1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
2. Lay out the chickpeas on a kitchen towel and gently pat them dry using a paper towel. Transfer the dried chickpeas to a mixing bowl.
3. In a small bowl, combine the Red chili powder, garlic powder, and salt. Mix these dry ingredients well to create your seasoning blend.
4. Drizzle the olive oil over the chickpeas in the mixing bowl. Toss the chickpeas gently to ensure they are coated evenly with the oil.
5. Sprinkle the prepared seasoning mix over the chickpeas. Toss again, this time ensuring that the seasoning is distributed uniformly, coating each chickpea.
6. Take a baking sheet and spread the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer on it. This will help them cook evenly and become nicely golden brown.
7. Place the baking sheet with the chickpeas in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 25 to 35 minutes. To ensure even cooking, give the chickpeas a toss and gently shake the baking sheet every 10 minutes.
8. Keep a close eye on the chickpeas as they bake. They are ready when they have turned a lovely golden brown color on all sides.
9. Once the chickpeas are done, remove them from the oven. Serve them while they’re still warm, and if you’d like, sprinkle a bit of extra sea salt over them for an added burst of flavor.
